The luxury Ice Class Ship, the Antarctic Dream, for 12 days enthused the hearts and souls of its fortunate passengers.
The Antarctic Dream sailed through the majestic fiords and channels of the rugged ‘Tierra del Fuego’ on it’s journey to the continent of Antarctica. Along the way visiting some of the hidden coves to observe the unique flora and fauna of the southern most part of Chile. While aboard this amazing adventure, many wine lovers enjoyed a Chilean brand in a exclusive wine tasting among penguins.
Seven glaciers while sailing through the Beagle Channel which is a safe haven for Chile’s Magellan penguins were the companions on this adventure leaving the continent of South America to sail through the Drake Passage, named after the famous British buccaneer, Sir Francis Drake. This passage is where the Atlantic and Pacific oceans converge. This is also the roughest ocean waters in the world. Many ships have met their fate while attempting to cross this grand barrier.
After four days of sailing, the group to the South Shetland Islands, on the continent of Antarctica were greeted by Humpback whales. These ‘Friends of PengWine’ were splashing and diving along side the ship. They stopped at Yankee Harbor, where the new line of PengWine wines was brought ashore and presented to its mascots the Gentoo, Chinstrap and Adelie penguins. These species were all nesting; allowing us the great opportunity to see the baby penguins hatching; which was befitting the hatching of the new PengWine line.
Over the next 5 days, PengWine wines were brought ashore to the magnificently ice-enveloped continent to be appreciated by wine aficionados and connoisseurs alike. Thus making this the first ever Chilean wine tasting on this once forbidden continent. The beautifully designed labels stood up against the breath taking glaciers and icebergs. The bottles with their grand labels where at home amongst the breath taking landscape.
Midnight was celebrated five times, as citizens of different countries celebrated the new year with their own time zone until Chilean midnight was reached, when everyone cheered and celebrated with hugs. It was an unforgetable occasion. The grand dinner was enjoyed with the different wines from Chilean Pengwine.
This fun filled journey allowed everyone to enjoy what penguins cherish every day; the freshest air, the purest water, amazing scenery and most of all the free spirit of the penguin.

The premium wine in the line-up is named after the King penguin. The King is a blend of two varieties, Malbec and Carmenere, which are very successfully vinified in South America. The Carmenere is unique to Chile. This wine is appropriately named after a penguin of broad stature.
Reserve line of PengWine, which is to be released in the U.S. in March of 2006. The new line consists of five wines, each named after a different species of Penguin.
PengWine was founded by two best friends and wine lovers from different ends of the American continent, Chris Milliken from the USA, and Max Eyzaguirre from Chile, to produce boutique wines that would be approachable and delightful anywhere and anytime.
