PengWine, A Good, Fun Wine from Chile, for the Young-at-Heart
SEATTLE, WA - June 1, 2005 - Comercial Windmill Enterprises, producer of quality Chilean wines, announces their new line of red wines called PengWine launching in select locations today. This new wine targets the growing population of wine drinkers who are young-at-heart, and is now available in Illinois, Texas and California, starting at $9.99 per bottle.
Very few Chilean wineries are targeting this growing market with an appropriate life style wine. PengWine is the first to focus on this segment with wines in the $10-16 range. Not only is the line affordable to this growing segment of the wine industry, but branding the wine with a fun, colorful label, reminds us that buying and drinking wine should be enjoyable, not intimidating.
The line currently consists of three reds: Cabernet Sauvignon-Carménère, Shiraz and a Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon. As Chile is home to more than 3 million penguins, the founders though it would be only appropriate to name a wine with them in mind. Each Reserve will feature a different penguin species.
Comercial Windmill founders, Chris Milliken and Max Eyzaguirre partnered in 2004 and started producing wine in Chile to export primarily to the US. Their target for all their wines is people who enjoy a nice glass of wine and want a label that reminds them that drinking wine should be fun.
“We see a great opportunity in this particular niche and are well positioned to take advantage of it,” said Chris Milliken, Business Manager and Partner of Comercial Windmill at the launch.
There is a limited quantity of the two red varietals and one reserve red for sale at $9.99 and $15.99 respectively. The whole line is being launched in Chicago, Illinois and the great Dallas metropolitan area. In many US metropolitan markets salespeople find that customers have a hard time remembering the wine they bought last week. They are glad to finally see a good wine they know their customers will remember. They feel PengWine will do well in these markets.
