PengWine, A Unique, Fun Wine from Chile Gets Great Review
PengWine, based in Chile's renowned Maipo Valley has received a rating of 84 out of 100 on its 2003 Humboldt Reserve from Wine Enthusiast Magazine. This Cabernet Sauvignon is recommended as a “Good Buy” in the November issue of the magazine.
Co-founder and business manager Chris Milliken said, “I’m delighted Wine Enthusiast gave us this rating. Being our first year in production, we are proud to receive this accolade.”
PengWine released three of their first red wines in the US market at the beginning of 2005 including one Cabernet Sauvignon reserve called Humboldt. It was named after a species of penguin found on Chile’s Pacific and Austral coasts. Each wine in the PengWine reserve line boasts a different penguin’s name in honor of the interesting penguins that call Chile home.
“We look forward to submitting our new reserves to Wine Enthusiast at the beginning of 2006 once they are available in the US. Hopefully they will like them just as well—or better,” commented Milliken with a smile.
About 2003 Humboldt Reserve
This wine has a purple appearance with ruby edges that show some evolution. Each bottle has layers of aromas including baked apples, toasted hazelnuts, cherries and subtle violets. On the palate the wine exhibits a balanced acidity with round tannins and good fruit character. It blends creamy hazelnut, chocolate and raspberries flavors.
