Fairy
Fairy penguins are some of the smallest of the species, but our PengWine Fairy is anything but small on flavor and complexity. Our first Rose release, Fairy expertly blends Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec to create a delicate, dry wine that entices the palate with a bite of fruit and finishes smooth with a touch of cinnamon. Fairy is the perfect compliment to a bright, sunny day spent with friends. The notes of strawberry and kiwi make Fairy a deliciously refreshing cocktail wine, but also pairs well with a midsummer meal of poached salmon or grilled chicken. Like the little birds after which it is named, Fairy might seem unassuming at first glance, but after one sip, it's sure to become a favorite mainstay at your dinner table.
Magellan
The Magellanic penguins make their home in the grassy islands off the South American coast. That is why we named our premier chardonnay after these island-dwelling birds. Our PengWine Magellan is a crisp oasis in a sea of one-note, over-oaked chardonnays. Magellan is processed in stainless steel, rather than wood. This creates a delicate and refreshing wine that is perfect for mid-afternoon cocktails on your back porch, but easily pairs with light seafood dishes that need a wine to complement, not overpower, them. The grapes used to create PengWine Magellan mature on the vines of the Maipo Valley and are kissed by cool, soft Pacific breezes. This wine exemplifies Chilean terroir, with crisp, tropical fruit that abounds on the nose and lingers on the palate. Try Magellan and take your taste buds on a flavorful and refreshing vacation through the Andes.
Rockhopper
Rockhopper penguins are renowned for their fiery, exotic plumage. Our PengWine Rockhopper is equally exotic and promises to be different than any wine you have ever tasted. A unique blend of robust Cabernet Sauvignon and exceptional Carmenere, Rockhopper hits earthy, bold notes and defies conventional wine categories. With each sip, Rockhopper's flavor gains depth and complexity, constantly evolving into something new and exciting to tickle your palate. Part of Rockhopper's unique flavor can be attributed to the Carmenere grapes, a variety long thought to be extinct, but recently rediscovered in Chile. Carmenere gives Rockhopper its spicy, earthy undertones and plays exquisitely off of the fruity texture of the Cabernet. Enjoy Rockhopper at a cocktail party as a complement to cheese and crackers or savory appetizers, allow it to bring complexity to a first course of grilled seafood, or savor it on its own for a special evening. Bring a bottle of Rockhopper to your next celebration and impress everyone with a blend that provides an uncommon and unparalleled flavor experience.
Humboldt
The Humboldt is the classiest of the penguin species with their elegant demeanor and gait. Like the bird, our PengWine Humboldt is a sophisticated and complex wine with a gorgeous purple hue and layer upon layer of rich aromas, including baked apples, toasted hazelnuts, cherries and subtle violets. To create this delicate, yet powerful, flavor profile, five varieties of wine were combined to contribute to the final blend; Cabernet Sauvignon, for body, Merlot, for silkiness, Cabernet Franc, for maturity, Malbec for earthiness and color, and Petit Verdot for overall structure. The end result is a creamy, velvety wine that can be enjoyed today, but will improve and develop for the next five years. Humboldt's elegance and richness are well paired with a juicy sirloin or beautiful piece of grilled portabella. Humboldt is an exclusive, first-class vintage that brings elegance and refinement to any meal or gathering. This wine is amazing now and will cellar gracefully for a few more years.
Gentoo
Gentoo penguins mate for life. So it was only fitting that we chose the gentoo as the namesake for one of our most flavorful and long-lasting wines. PengWine Gentoo is a velvety blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz, two bold wines that when combined create an elegant vintage that will please even the most discriminating palate. Gentoo is a dry, medium-bodied red with flavor notes of young blackberries, caramel, vanilla and light spice. The experience of drinking a glass of Gentoo is one you will savor from the moment you uncork the bottle, down to the very last sip. Gentoo develops gracefully in oak barrels for over a year, which gives it its distinctive toasted finish and is a versatile wine that pairs well with everything from a cheeseburger to a smoky BBQ pork tenderloin. Place your order for Gentoo now, because although its flavor is long-lasting, our quantities of this gorgeous 2003 vintage won't last.
Royal
The royal penguin is among the most majestic of the breed and our PengWine Royal is equally regal and sophisticated. A premier blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, PengWine's Royal is a smooth and complex vintage that promises to be a unique wine drinking experience, and delivers with every glass. Royal is a special reserve produced and bottled in limited quantities, so it is available for only the most discerning palates. The nose is fragrant with sweet blossoms and allspice, and has a faint touch of leather, making it delicate and rich, all at once. Spectacular with steak, spaghetti carbonara and meatballs, your first sip will seduce you with notes of cranberries and raspberries and finish with a hint of Earl Grey. Royal is for those wine enthusiasts looking to be transported by a world-class vintage with unparalleled flavor and complexity. You deserve grand treatment, so drink like a royal and pour yourself a glass.
King
The King penguin is one of the rarest penguin species, with only 400 mating pairs left worldwide. So it is only fitting that we chose the King penguin as the namesake for one of our most exclusive wines, the premium King. King is a velvety 50-50 blend of Malbec and Carmenere, two bold wines that when combined create an elegant and smooth vintage that will please even the most discriminating dinner guest. PengWine King is a complex and sophisticated wine that pairs well with rich, savory dishes like braised lamb, beef Wellington or Pacific salmon. King is also the smallest production wine at PengWine, so experience it before our limited supplies are gone.
