We want to thank Cuisine & Wine Asia for the beautiful write up on our 5-8-5 Vertical Dinner.
The 19th INTERWINE China 2017 was a huge success! Held in Guangzhou, this 2-day International Wine Fair attracted wine sellers from over 60 countries. It was our first venture into China’s burgeoning wine market and we were overwhelmed by the positive response!
PengWine imported by Hao Fung International, being the only wine exhibitor with a strong branding identity, stood out from the other exhibitors who were mainly distributors. Our signature classy black and white branding and our beautiful brand ambassadors attracted many visitors to our booth to have a taste of our premium Chilean wines. One of the most commonly heard remark was the surprising affordability of our wines despite the sophisticated branding perception. Well, our branding efforts indeed paid off!
The Chinese wine drinkers have a preference for strong robust flavours and they showed much enthusiasm to PengWine because the richness of our Chilean wines go exceptionally well with Chinese cuisine. The King and the Emperor, both exquisitely elegant and rich, are the most favoured because of their compatibility to the Chinese drinkers’ taste buds.
On the second day of INTERWINE, we had a special Master Class session led by Chris Milliken and Sommelier Joseph Yu to explain the nuances of fine wine appreciation and also to introduce our premium wines – the King, the Emperor and the Royal. We had so much fun and it was a full turnout!
Our resounding success at INTERWINE China 2017 could not have been possible without our amazing partners Hao Fung International led by Mr Gary Mok and his partner, our hardworking PengWine team and everyone who came by our booth. A big Thank You to all! We definitely see a strong market in China and we will be back!
To show he isn’t bluffing, the president of Chilean winery Pengwine and Singapore-based liquor wholesalers Amigos y Vinos spins his smartphone around. Two and a half golden kilometres of Lake Michigan’s shoreline glitter through the Skype video call. The prolific entrepreneur, his wife and two daughters leave their Tiong Bahru abode each summer for the holidays, so a video call is a prime opportunity to get a glimpse of his lifestyle.
